The professional development fund is a union-won benefit. All adjuncts can apply for up to $1250 in an academic year, and grants can be used for activities like academic conferences, software training, or professional projects.
You must apply for the grants through your school. You can download the form and look up the correct person to send your application to on this NYU webpage. All grants are paid out as reimbursements. Once approved, keep all receipts and provide original copies to your department administrator for processing. The university designates $200,000 to the professional development fund every year, and $100,000 is available on the first day of the fall semester, and $100,000 is available on the first day of the spring semester. We suggest all adjuncts apply early, even if your professional activity is scheduled later in the semester. |
